- Abstract
When we talk about democracy today; rather than a form of government, it is considered to be the most righteous, indispensable, and even sacred concept. However, the concept of democracy has had different meanings throughout history. The concept of democracy was considered as a dangerous, unfavourable, and corrupted form of government by Aristoteles and Platon in its place of birth, Ancient Greek. Different types of democracy emerged after the 19th century. When these differences are considered, the question “Is democracy then and democracy now similar” comes to mind. In this study, comparisons have been made between ancient and modern democracy. By making a comparative analysis, the change in the concept of democracy has been tried to be examined.
