- Title
WKRY6 Transcription Factor Is a Key Player in a Multifaceted Defense against Arsenate.
- Authors

- Abstract
This article discusses the defense mechanisms of plants against arsenate, a highly toxic metalloid. The study found that exposure to arsenate led to the repression of genes responsible for phosphate uptake in Arabidopsis thaliana. The researchers discovered that a transcription factor called WRKY6 plays a key role in this defense response by acting as a repressor of phosphate transporter genes and transposon activation. This work provides insights into how plants have evolved specific responses to arsenate stress.
