- Abstract
The article focuses on the initiative made by medical schools towards repositioning clinical care in academic health centers and associations in the U.S. According to the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC), revenue for faculty practice plan climbed up to $9.7 billion from $7.3 billion at public medical schools and $12.4 billion from $7.5 billion at private medical schools between 1999-2004. It expects that improving clinical care would be essential for health centers in the country. Goals of academic clinical practice extend beyond revenue growth and patient-or program-specific contribution margins. In repositioning clinical care in academic health centers, it is necessary to improve their medical approach, clinical practice efficiency and competency.
