- Abstract
Das Heliumionen-Mikroskop (HIM) rastert Proben mit einem Strahl aus Heliumionen ab. Gegenüber der etablierten Raster-Elektronenmikroskopie (REM) bietet es einige Vorteile: höhere Auflösung, höhere Oberflächensensitivität, empfindlichere Kontrastmechanismen, größere Tiefenschärfe und geringere Probenschädigung. Hinzu kommt bei elektrisch isolierenden Proben die Möglichkeit einer Ladungskompensation, die eine elektrostatische Aufladung der Proben verhindert. In konventioneller REM müssen solche Proben mit einer leitfähigen Schicht bedampft werden, die aber feine Oberflächenstrukturen überdeckt. Seine vielen Vorzüge könnten das HIM zu einer Alternative für das REM machen, die in manchen Anwendungen sogar überlegen sein könnte.
