- Abstract
The article describes the case of a two-month-old Caucasian male infant diagnosed with neonatal lupus erythematosus (NLE). Topics discussed include the growth of cutaneous erythematous annular lesions on the face, scalp and abdomen, the passive transport of maternal immunoglobulin G autoantibodies across the placenta, and the birth of NLE infants to mothers positive for anti-Ro antibodies. Also mentioned are the role of certain antibodies in the pathogenesis of cardiac and cutaneous diseases.
