- Abstract
The article addresses the debate over whether the U.S. Federal Reserve Board should adopt inflation targeting as a strategy to help mitigate economic crises. A review of Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan's record of providing liquidity in response to the agency's perception of shocks of the economy is facing is presented. The connection between the Federal Reserve's accommodation of the federal government's request for flexibility and the depression since 2002 of the exchange value of the dollar is also discussed.
