- Abstract
This article discusses a study that compared the effectiveness and safety of two surgical procedures, rectal modular dissection (RMD) and traditional rectal mobilization (TRM), for the treatment of rectal cancer. The study found that RMD resulted in less blood loss, shorter operative durations, and better preservation of urinary and bowel function compared to TRM. RMD also resulted in a higher rate of complete mesorectum and harvested more lymph nodes. The study suggests that RMD is a safe and feasible option for male patients with middle and low rectal cancer.
