- Abstract
Romania's entry into the Euro area is subject to fulfillment of the nominal convergence criteria, progress in terms of real convergence being also required. In order to analyze the level of real convergence inside EU, the concepts of a and 13 convergence are used. I have taken into consideration the level of GDP/capita (PPS euro) for the member states, during 2000- 2007. I have split the research in two directions: one trying to outline the convergence degree inside the EU, regardless the number of member states, to conclude whether the waves of accession have compromised the convergence, the second one trying to assess the convergence tendency of member states, grouped in UE 15, UE 25 and UE 27 with the purpose of outlining the efficiency of the pre and post accession programs.
