Síntomas COVID en adultos mayores de población abierta y su asociación con la realización de una prueba diagnóstica.

- Abstract
Objetivo: determinar frecuencia de síntomas COVID en adultos mayores (AM), su asociación con la realización de una prueba diagnóstica. Explorar frecuencia del síntoma, búsqueda de servicios de salud e información sobre la enfermedad. Antecedentes: actualmente, se han realizado esfuerzos para la detección temprana e identificación de síntomas COVID, sin embargo, por la heterogeneidad de presentación de la enfermedad no existe un patrón definido de presentación ni síntomas clave en AM, lo que podría aumentar complicaciones y desenlaces catastróficos. Métodos: realizamos 91 encuestas FINGERS-COVID a AM de 60-77 años en población abierta. FINGERSCOVID explora como pandemia ha afectado factores de salud mental, psicosocial, física y estilo de vida, así como sintomatología relacionada con COVID. Calculamos frecuencia de los síntomas COVID en la población y exploramos búsqueda y acceso a los servicios de salud y precepción de calidad de la información recibida. Se realizó prueba exacta de Fisher para asociar síntomas con la realización de pruebas diagnósticas. Núm. de registro del protocolo: 27/20 Resultados: 54 AM (54%) refirieron algún síntoma COVID, los más frecuentes fueron: Dolor de garganta y goteo nasal (28.7% cada uno), cefalea (26.4%), dolor muscular o articular (25.3%) y fatiga o agotamiento (24.1%). Solo 17 AM (19%) contactaron algún servicio de salud, el 82% de ellos refiere que fue fácil obtener atención médica, que la información que recibieron respecto a la enfermedad y su manejo fueron adecuad. Los síntomas COVID que se asociaron a la realización de prueba diagnóstica fueron: dolor de garganta, fiebre, voz, ronca, fatiga y dolor muscular (Tabla 1). Conclusiones: de la población estudiada, más de la mitad identificó síntomas COVID, lo que rebela que estaban informados y atentos a la presentación de dichos síntomas. La presencia de los diferentes síntomas reportados fue similar en un rango del 28 al 24%. Los síntomas de alarma que se asociaron a la realización de la prueba diagnóstica fueron: dolor de garganta, fiebre, voz ronca, fatiga y dolor muscular.
