- Abstract
This article discusses the growing interest in airway management of the critically ill patient, particularly since the publication of the Fourth National Audit Project of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Difficult Airway Society in Great Britain. Topics discussed include the perils of multiple attempts at tracheal intubation, the launch of video laryngoscopy, and the need for a standard airway management practice that is based on predictors or difficulty with tracheal intubation.
