- Abstract
The study examined the generalizability of the sociability aspect of extraversion-introversion dimension as measured by Eysenck's Personality Questionnaire (Eysenck and Eysenck. 1975). Nine hundred Israeli students, 17-19 years of age were administered the EPQ and two out of four Affiliation questionnaires, each examined the desirability of a particular type of companion (being alone, with intimates, acquaintances and strangers) in four clusters of situations: pleasant and enjoyable, unpleasant, situations which require concentration and threatening conditions. The findings indicate that the most prominent dissemblances between extroverts and introverts exist in the desire for company in pleasant and enjoyable situations and in the overall desire to associate with strangers, where extraverts express stronger affiliative tendencies.
