- Title
The Genetics of Antiepileptic Drug-Induced Skin Reactions.
- Authors
Hakimian, S.; Miller, J. W.
- Abstract
The article discusses the genetic aspects of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs)-induced skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). It states that various decisions involving epilepsy treatment such as the selection of treatment agents and its administration are influenced by the risk factors of the disease. It says that the identification of the genetic factors that predicts the presence of SJS and TEN has changed the treatment course of epilepsy.
