- Authors

- Abstract
The victory in the naval battle of Lepanto was celebrated exceptionally in many places. The article presents a reading in three episodes, through the historical soundscape, of how important these celebrations were for the Hispanic Monarchy and the people involved, such as Don Juan de Austria. Based on the chronicles and the unique composition preserved in Spanish, it offers an overview and recreation about how the cities of Barcelona, Seville, and Messina would have sounded like. Using these examples, this approach from the perspective of historical musicology shows the importance of music and sound in the representation of power and the established order in the Modern Age.
