- Abstract
The article presents a study that examined the pathogenic role of CD4+ T cells during chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infections through systematic screening across the entire virus proteome to identify CD4+ T cell pathogenic epitopes. Topics discussed include the role of CD4+ cells in mediating severe vascular leakages, edema and muscle necrosis in mice during CHIKV infection and therapeutic use of the fingolimod agonist in limiting the migration of CD4+T cells to the joints.
