- Abstract
The article comments on a study which described events in hospital oxygen system related to oxygen supply shortages associated to overuse in high-flow nasal cannulas as a form of oxygen therapy. It discusses limitations of lumping all forms of oxygen therapy as conventional oxygen therapy. It compares the performance of conventional oxygen therapy devices to understand the inappropriateness of lumping and argues on the complexity of hospital oxygen system that may result to contamination.
