- Abstract
This article discusses a study which investigated the mechanical properties of nanocomposite materials obtained using sorbitol plasticized waxy maize starch as matrix and tunicin whiskers. The study examined the effect of filler load and the relative humidity levels on the mechanical behavior of the films. It attributed the good mechanical strength of the nanocomposites to the strong interaction between tunicin whiskers, matrix, plasticizer (sorbitol) and water.
