- Abstract
The article discusses research which investigated changes in urine parameters of healthy male U.S. Marines deployed in the Mojave Desert. The study was presented at the May 2012 meeting of the American Urological Association (AUA) in Georgia. It describes urine sampling performed before and after deployment. It cites factors which may have contributed to the increase in uric acid and sodium urate stone formation observed including extreme heat and diaphoresis.
