- Abstract
An essay that aims to undermine the dominance of the gap metaphor achievement in equity arguments as well as to offer alternatives to do equity work in teaching and learning mathematics is presented. It highlights the fact that any person is experiencing inequities and so these should be given solutions. The author stresses that achievement gap gives emphasis on some aspects of equality, highlighting the individual student's performance based on the usual way it works in the U.S.
