- Abstract
The National Council of Radio and Television was the first official regulatory body that integrated radio and television stations in Argentina. Its years coincided with the period in which the State proposed the ambitious project of extending radio and television coverage throughout the national territory based on the participation of the private sector. This work aims to analyze the state projects for the expansion and control of radio and television, based on the reconstruction of the role defined for the Council in regulating the activity of private media. The reconstruction has been carried out from the survey of several periodical publications of written press and official documentation. The analysis allows us to understand the disputes within the broad anti-Peronist space for the control of radio and television broadcasting and the cyclical process of politicization and repoliticization that the media entrepreneurs experienced at this stage.
