- Abstract
The article discusses the role of mineralocorticoid receptor antagonism (MRA) which primarily with spironolactone for cardiovascular prevention in chronic dialysis patients. It explains the theoretical benefits of aldosterone in left ventricular hypertrophy in end-stage renal disease. It notes some studies that help determine whether MRA represents an unexploited therapeutic strategy. It also emphasizes the need for true evidence of adverse effects of MRA in ESRD patients.
