- Abstract
The article comments on the link between drinking of alcoholic beverages and longevity. There are several conditions which contribute to the higher risk of heavier drinkers including liver cirrhosis, pancreatitis, gastritis, trauma and degenerative nervous system conditions. Epidemiological studies have shown that alcohol drinkers have a lower risk of fatal and nonfatal coronary heart disease events.
