- Abstract
The article discusses the role of community hospitals in increasing staff influenza vaccination rates in the U.S. Annual influenza vaccination has been recommended by the the U.S. Public Health Service for physicians, nurses, and other personnel in both hospital and outpatient-care settings who have contact with high-risk persons among all age groups, including infants. Lawrence General Hospital has reported an increase in the number of vaccinated hospital staff from the 1990-1992 vaccination season. The increase can be attributed to the program developed by the community hospital's nursing personnel.
