The article presents a speech by attorney John S. Skilton, delivered at the Thomas E. Fairchild Lecture, held at the University of Wisconsin Law School, May 7, 2010, in which he discussed the various aspects of the career of former U.S. President Abraham Lincoln as a lawyer including the three significant cases, the legal papers project, and the lawyers who served as his influences.
