- Abstract
The article discusses a study on seabird bycatch in Alaska Demersal Longline Fishery Trials and summarizes the seasonal and spatial demography of seabirds killed incidentally in the Bering Sea. A total of 417 carcasses were examined including Northern Fulmar Fulmarus glacialis, Glaucous-winged Gull Larus shistisagus and Black-legged Kittiwake Rissa tridactyla. There was reportedly a male bias in the sex ratio of fulmars but not of gulls or shearwaters and that more studies of the species, age and sex of seabirds killed should be conducted.
