Discusses the results of a study, which evaluated the effects of contraceptive method on the occurrence of bacteriuria and vaginal colonization with Escherichia coli. Factors that contribute to urinary tract infection; Hypothesis on the risks associated with the use of diaphragm-spermicide of spermicide alone during sexual intercourse; Analysis of the vaginal fluid for yeast, motile trichomonads and clue cells; Effects of sexual intercourse and contraceptive method on other urinary and vaginal organisms; Other factors that influence bacteriuria and vaginal colonization with Escherichia coli.
