- Abstract
This article provides an overview of the management of vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) in children, a condition where urine flows backward from the bladder into the ureter. It discusses the history of VUR studies in India and explores various diagnostic and treatment approaches. The article emphasizes the importance of preventing recurrent urinary tract infections in managing VUR. It also highlights recent guidelines that recommend open ureteric reimplantation as the preferred method, but also mentions laparoscopic or robotic-assisted laparoscopic reimplantation as an alternative. The text concludes by suggesting the need for further research to better identify high-risk patients and improve diagnostic techniques.
