- Abstract
The authors present their response to a commentary by E. Griffiths and E. Hamilton about their article which compared randomized controlled trial (RCT) of open with minimal access esophagectomy (MIO). They believe that the CLASSIC RCT cited by the commentators has proven the superiority of laparoscopic surgery over open surgery. They believe that Griffiths and Hamilton have failed to examine relevant primary outcomes.
