- Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the fraction intervention trial (FIT), a randomly controlled trial of alendronate or placebo, aimed at determining whether alendronate had differential effects on bone mineral density (BMD) and fracture by renal function in the U.S. The study uses women participating in the FIT, where the baseline creatinine clearance was estimated using the Cockcroft Gault Formula. The study concludes that alendronate is safe and effective at increasing BMD.
