- Abstract
The article reports on the approval on the use of the implantable optical telescope by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It reports that the Implantable Miniature Telescope (IMT), which is created by Isaac Lipshitz of the VisionCare Ophthalmic Technologies Inc. in Saratoga, California, is designed to improve central vision loss due to end-stage age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It also states that the eye implant will magnify images and project them into the healthy part of the patient's retina.
