- Abstract
The article presents information on a research study which examined the effects of the Lighthouse after-school program (AFP) which was implemented in the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) in Illinois. The researchers found that the program aimed at improving the social behavior of the youth and children in Chicago. They also mention that the members of the staff of AFP are challenged to align their services with the regular school day curriculum. According to them, most teachers and principals in the program do not agree with the accountability policy of CPS.
