- Abstract
Reaction of l-methyl-2-methylsulfonylimidazole (MeImSO2Me) with diorganotin dihalides yielded compounds of the type [SnR2X2(MeImSO2Me)] (R = Me, X = Cl, Br; R = Et, X = Cl; R = Ph, X = Cl). The structures of the dimethyldibromo and diphenyldichloro derivatives were determined by X-ray crystallography. The tin atom is best described as being 5+1 coordinated by two C atoms, two X atoms, the unsubstituted ? atom of MeImSO2Me and very weakly to one of the ? atom of the sulfonyl group. NMR spectroscopy studies of the compounds in CDCl3 solution revealed extensive dissociation.
