- Abstract
The article presents a case study on the ability of aquatic macrophyte Eleocharis acicularis to absorb multiple heavy metals and its potential application for phytoremediation in an abandoned mining site in Hokkaido, Japan. It presents the main metal components found in the site and reveals the transplantation of the macrophyte in the mine drainage. It was found that Eleocharis acicularis has the capacity to take up multiple heavy metals from the drainage and tailing of the sites.
