- Abstract
The article provides a clarified interpretation of the 2006 U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations for HIV testing in health care settings. The core recommendation elements are presented. It stresses that testing represents an important opportunity to promote risk reduction. It suggests that partial implementation via the adoption of individual recommendations that are feasible will have significant public health benefit.
