- Abstract
Objective: to investigate the opinion of students about the spiritual dimension of care in nursing practice. Method: exploratory study, with qualitative approach, developed between students of the Nursing graduation of the Federal University of Paraíba. Were selected nine students, from the following criteria: be studying in the ninth semester of the course and accept to participate in the search. Data were collected through recorded interview, utilizing as instrument a script of subjective questions. Testimonies obtained were transcribed and analyzed by the technique of content analysis. The research was submitted to the Ethics Committee in Research of the Health Sciences Center, of the referred university, according do the protocol no. °053/11 e CAAE n°1106.0.000.462-11. Results: the interpretative analysis of the interviews allowed the construction of two categories: nursing student's opinion about the spiritual dimension of care, in nursing practice; situations in which nursing students apply the knowledge about the care, in it is spiritual dimension; importance of knowledge about the spiritual dimension of care, in nursing practice. Conclusion: the spiritual dimension of care is comprehended by students as part integrant of nursing care, should be applied in all clinical situations; although, because it is rarely addressed during professional training, they feel some uncertainty in applying it. It is suggested that it give emphasis on this dimension of care during the graduation, so that they can have better information about her and can become better prepared professionals and humanized.
