- Title
Security in the Straits of Hormuz.
- Authors
Bernheim, Steve
- Abstract
The article focuses on how the Strait of Hormuz should be secured from threats that would hinder the flow of oil from the Persian Gulf states to other countries. These straits connect the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean wherein 50% of oil trade passes. If the Soviet Union wishes to stop oil flow, it might lead to war with the U.S. Stopping traffic through the straits are unacceptable to oil consumers, and producers and will only be decreased if preventive measures are taken.
