Burning wood a greener way.
- Authors
Kidd, Marie-Claire
- Abstract
The article discusses woodworker and specialty timer merchant Martin Larkin's strategies in using high calorific value waste for an innovative product to the woodfuel market in Great Britain. It outlines how Larkin found out the benefits of using greenheart sawdust and shavings for high quality briquettes. It notes how Larkin transformed the wastes from virgin and salvaged greenheart into small briquettes for the domestic woodburner market, which had brought several revenues for his company Thrifty Firewood. Moreover, it mentions Larkin's plan to look for alternative sources of wood waste due to the exceeding demands of his production targets.
