- Abstract
A new Fe–Mn–Cr–Mo–V austenitic surfacing material especially suitable for the impact wear resistant application, designated as EKCM50, has been successfully developed. Hardness and impact wear tests have been performed for the surfacing deposits obtained using the newly developed austenitic surfacing electrode and the high manganese steel surfacing electrode. The mechanical performances of the surfacing deposits obtained using two electrodes have been compared. The result shows that the EKCM50 austenitic surfacing electrode can give higher hardness and excellent impact wear resistance than the high manganese steel electrode. In addition, the influence of alloying elements including Cr, Mo and V on the hardness and impact wear resistance of the new austenitic surfacing material is also discussed.
