- Title
Aeropagitica's Euripidean Motto.
- Authors
Hale, John K.
- Abstract
This article shares the author's thoughts on the claim that poet John Milton mistranslated the passage of Euripedes in order to establish a kind of Greek⁄English dialectic which previews important arguments of the "Areopagitica." In this article, the author contends that Milton's verse translations as a rule show interpretive expansion and not mistranslation. the mistranslations are considered as the corollaries of the Greek predications, in action and advocacy.
