- Title
Leading the Impressionable Young Singer from the Piano: Perspectives from a Collaborating Artist.
- Authors
Miller, Tammy
- Abstract
The article discusses the role of a pianist/collaborating artist in developing young singers in rehearsals and in performance. Different approaches are presented for addressing mistakes in pitches and intonation, such as playing part notes an octave higher, playing roots of chords in the bass or filling out the chord without playing the precise pitches. The benefits of breathing with the ensemble in the creation of muscle memory is also explained.
