- Abstract
The introduction of new cultivars or hybrids of grass generate expectations in the market for farmers, and new options for installation and maintenance of pastures. Under these expectations is grass-convert HD364 the hybrid that was recently released in Brazil. This work aimed to evaluate the development and production of grass-convert HD364 subjected to water stress. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse experimental design, completely randomized in a 2,5 dm3 pots with soil water availability and six: 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 and 120% retention with capacity of the soil water four replications. Soil moisture was maintained by the gravimetric method. It was evaluated plant height, number of leaves and SPAD index (Soil Plant Analysis Development) and cutting plants at ground level were performed 23 days after treatment application to evaluate the dry mass of shoot and root dry matter. All results were submitted to analysis of variance and regression test at 5% probability through the program SISVAR. Water availability to provide best development and production of grass stood in the range of 78.2 to 92.49% of the maximum water holding capacity of the soil. The development and production of grass-convert HD364 is most affected by water stress and water deficit (20% of maximum water holding capacity of the soil) than by flooding conditions.
