- Abstract
Concrete is generally considered to be an ideal protective medium for steel, but the use of salts and the increase in the concentration of carbon dioxide due to pollution, implicitly lead to corrosion of reinforcements inside the concrete. Lack of protection and degradation of materials will eventually lead to the failure of reinforced concrete elements. The paper analyzes the influence of the substitution, in the preparation of concrete, of a part of sand with ash resulting from the burning of carbide on the diffusion of salts in concrete structures. Part 2 presents the governing equations and the results obtained by running the specialized software.
