- Abstract
The article presents a case study of supplemental islet transplantation in a 52-year-old man with Type 1 diabetes for 30 years. At the time of the first islet transplantation, his body weight was 75 kg and body mass index 21.1 kg/m2 and his serum C-peptide level was negative. The patient received the second islet transplantation in December 2006, using the Edmonton protocol, after which he achieved insulin independence.
