- Abstract
This article explores the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and its impact on language teaching. It emphasizes the need for more research on teachers' familiarity with the CEFR and its implementation in the classroom. A study conducted at a university in Southern Italy investigates language teachers' knowledge of the CEFR descriptors and their perspectives on the tool. The study reveals that while teachers recognize the importance of the CEFR, they are primarily familiar with the global scales and self-assessment grid. The findings suggest the need for further efforts to familiarize teachers with the full CEFR scales.
