- Abstract
A study published in the journal "Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology" aimed to assess the prevalence of Müllerian anomalies in reproductive-aged women and the effectiveness of 2D and 3D ultrasound in screening and diagnosing these anomalies. The study found that 2D ultrasound identified 118 cases of Müllerian malformations, with 92 confirmed by 3D ultrasound. 3D ultrasound accurately diagnosed all 173 cases, effectively clarifying all cases that were initially suspected by 2D ultrasound. The malformations identified by 3D ultrasound included arcuate uterus, septate uterus, bicornuate uterus, didelphys uterus, and unicornuate uterus. The study concluded that transvaginal 3D ultrasound is essential for detecting Müllerian malformations in women planning pregnancy, leading to improved pregnancy outcomes and supporting informed reproductive planning.
