- Abstract
This article discusses the Female adnexal tumour of probable Wolffian origin (FATWO), a rare tumor that originates from mesonephric remnants. While mostly benign, there have been reports of its malignant potential. The article highlights the diagnostic challenges associated with FATWO, including its morphology, ultrasonographic characteristics, immunohistochemistry, and lack of specific tumor markers. The transvaginal ultrasound imaging characteristics of FATWO are described as solid tumors with well-defined borders, cystic areas, acoustic shadowing, variable blood flow, and mixed echogenicity. The article presents a case study of a patient with FATWO and emphasizes the importance of reporting ultrasonographic characteristics for the diagnosis of such rare adnexal lesions.
