The article discusses lead, asbestos, mercury, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), collectively known as "LAMP," which are all considered to be health hazards and can often be found in U.S. middle school buildings. Topics discussed include locations where these components may be found, the health dangers posed by exposure to these components, and ways middle school science teachers can take the lead in making sure LAMP safety measures are taken.
