- Abstract
By virtue of good liquidity and high conductivity of the liquid metal, a radio frequency (RF) switch based on the spoof surface plasmon polariton (SPP) transmission line is investigated in this paper. The SPP transmission line with H‐shaped unit cells are used here and the signal can be successfully blocked by cutting several unit cells. By introducing a micro‐channel containing the liquid metal, the SPP transmission line can be reformed with the liquid metal slug. Different states of the switch can be obtained via moving the liquid metal slug by microfluidic technology. The prototype of the presented switch is fabricated and measured and good agreement between the simulation and measurement can be observed. Low insert loss at ON state and high isolation at OFF state can be obtained over the operation band.
