- Abstract
The article discusses annotations by poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge in the book "An Account of the Island of Ceylon, containing its history, geography, natural history, with the manners and customs of its various inhabitants; to which is added, the journal of an embassy to the court of Candy," by Robert Percival. Also noted is Coleridge's purported annotation of an article on termites by Henry Smeathman in the journal "The Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society." Both texts are said to have been owned by farmer Tom Poole.
