- Authors
Cowen, Janet
- Abstract
The article discusses the inscribed name Elizabeth Darcy in the British Library manuscript (MS) Harley 1766, a copy of John Lydgate's poem "Fall of Princes." The inscription is written partially in Greek letters and also contains two versions of the phrase "Say farewell Elizabeth Darcy" transliterated into Greek. The name Elizabeth Darcy is also inscribed on the British Library MS Additional 10304, a copy of Giovanni Boccaccio's "De Mulieribus Claris." The author suggests that it is unclear whether or not both manuscripts refer to the same Elizabeth Darcy.
