MUSCOVITES IN LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST.
- Authors
White, R. S.
- Abstract
The article presents information on the theatrical play "Love's Labour's Lost" and examines its adoption of Muscovites. The Russian disguise adopted by the courtiers in their abortive masque in the books is usually considered in the context of dating the play by means of topical reference. The main point made here is that it figures the capitulation to love made by the courtiers, which they themselves see as a tyranny. It also prefigures the ending when they must endure that footstep of lost libertie in their various tasks.
